PRIVATE PILOT HELICOPTER
DESCRIPTION
The private pilot certificate permits the holder to act as pilot in command of a helicopter while carrying non revenue passengers. This program is for those who have not yet decided if flying for a career is their desire. Students, who, after completing this program, decide to pursue flying as a career, may enroll in the advance Pilot Diploma Program or Professional Pilot Diploma Program and have credit for the Private Pilot Certification Program. It is not necessary to have a fixed wing license or previous flying experience to becoming a helicopter pilot.
The Private Pilot Program is a two module Program. Module 1 is a prepaid module, Module 2 is a pay-as-you-fly module.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ENROLLMENT
MODULE 1 (prepaid)
This is the initial training module which trains the student in the Schweizer Helicopter Simulator and covers all Basic maneuvers, Advanced maneuvers and Emergency procedures up to FAA Practical Test Standards.
On completion of this module the student progresses to Module 2 (or Module 2A for an add-on) in the helicopter, this is the most cost effective way to reduce overall training costs.
7.5 hours from the Simulator experience and 1 hour from the helicopter flight for a total of 8.5 are applied to the overall training requirements.

SPECIAL NOTE:
The minimum legal requirement for flight training is 35 hours as established by the Federal Aviation Administration. However, this may not be sufficient training, in individual cases, for a student to attain private pilot proficiency. A student shall have the opportunity to progress at his/her own learning rate to complete the minimum time, but it is prudent for planning purposes to consider the possibility of a program in excess of minimum times.
